As the end of the year comes closer and dreams of normality start leaking into our thoughts, it’s important that we remain vigilant and safe. We’ve successfully launched a new squash center in 2020 and we are thriving! (True: we could have picked a better year to launch.) A public shout out to Cleve Miller who has led the charge and runs – everything. We have had a regular parade of people who have come in to learn about how to mimic what we have achieved. Did you know that thanks to fans, filters, new air extraction paths and the brand new HVAC unit, the air inside our center is only very slightly different to the air outside? That combined with masks makes our center safer than most. But there’s always more that we can do.
One of the most obvious ways that we can help stay safe is to provide online programming. For those of you that are not aware, Nicole Bunyan (current PSA series ranking 41) has a fitness app that she’s launched and is available through Manhattan Squash here.
If you would like to see what one of her classes are like, email us at info@ManhattanSquash.org and we’ll sign you up for her next online training session which will take place on Sunday, December 13th at noon Manhattan Squash Local Time. She will lead you through a 40 minute bodyweight workout with a mixture of mobility, strength, and plyo/cardio exercises all to improve your squash fitness. It’s $15 for the class and if you sign up for the app (before or afterwards) it’s free.
In addition, we have released a new video analysis offering to pair with our recording of your time on court. This is the first time we’ve mentioned it in public, but you should have been getting emails after each of your court bookings offering to add coaching tips and advice to your video. We’ve put together a short questionnaire which we’d love you to complete so we can find out what you think of this idea.
But wait, there’s more! We’re about to roll out online 1:1 fitness training. If you’d like to be one of the lucky few to get a free trial of this offering, email us (again at info@ManhattanSquash.org) and let us know you’re interested.
In the meantime, stay safe, keep those masks tucked up over your noses and under your chins, but most importantly, remember: don’t boast, just keep it deep.
