Our number one priority at Manhattan Squash is to make squash more accessible. Of course that is qualified in this environment as we want to make it accessible and safe. We re-opened three weeks ago – first for solo drilling and last week we expanded so that you could play with your “bubble partner”. As we’ve slowly expanded our offerings, we’ve adapted as we’ve learned more. For example we now require wearing a mask when you play with a partner because that has been accepted as the best practice by our community.

As we roll out new ideas, there’s nothing like checking in with y’all to get your feedback. And that’s what this blog post is all about.  We have a couple of initiatives we are thinking about and before we roll them out or make any decisions we’d love to hear from you.

Juniors

Our partner Nicol Squash is delivering a package of personalized individual lessons for juniors during August, and it’s great to see the Nicol Squash kids playing such amazing squash after the hiatus. Nicol Squash is starting their full junior program in September – modified for COVID/safety of course. But meanwhile in August we have some available court time for additional junior programming, and together with Nicol Squash we’ve been brainstorming about what more we can offer (safely). If you’ve got a junior who plays squash we’d be super grateful if you could fill out this questionnaire. We don’t want to promise anything right now, but based on feedback and demand we’ll see what’s possible and safe and achievable given the short timeframe.

Online programming

There is no way to offer group classes in person at the moment for fairly obvious reasons. But we can offer online classes and have been offering (free) online yoga on Instagram Live since we first went into lockdown. We’d love to hear what other programming you think we could offer online and when we should offer it. We would be most grateful if you could fill out this second questionnaire and let us know what you think.

As always, we really don’t recommend boasting. Just keep it tight and deep and all will work out in the end.
