It’s always fun to make a big entrance, but sometimes it’s good to start slowly. And so it is for the launch of The Manhattan Community Squash Center. We are going to open up gradually and make sure everything works before turning up the spigot. Of course we won’t start charging anyone monthly memberships until we are 100% open. Here (at long last) is our opening schedule:
Children First on October 28th
Our juniors will be welcomed first. Starting on October 28th, at 4pm we are thrilled to announce that we will officially kick off the junior programming with our partner Nicol Squash. The main reason we are not open for everyone is that the changing rooms will not be complete – there will be no showers and you’ll have to go up a flight of stairs to get to the restrooms. People who have signed up with Nicol Squash will be provided full details by email. If you have any questions, please reach out to Alberto (Alberto@NicolSquash.com).
Adult Programming to begin on November 18th
As soon as the changing rooms are 100% complete (and you no longer have to walk upstairs to go to the restroom) we will open up for adult programming and some limited ability to book courts. We expect this to be November 18th, but it could be a couple of days earlier or later. We will still be open for members only (no guests) and no monthly membership fees will be charged. Our hours of operation during this period will be*:
- Weekdays: 4pm-10pm
- Saturdays 9am-1pm
- Sundays 9am-10pm
* Note: these times may be amended slightly
And finally the Center is fully open
During all of the above programming we will continue to be finishing construction and waiting for our Certificate of Occupancy (CofO for those in the know). If you wonder how we are operating without a CofO and are interested in the inner workings of NYC Department of Buildings we will be operating under a Temporary Place of Assembly permit. As soon as we are granted our full CofO (sometime shortly after Thanksgiving) we will open up to our full operating hours. We will of course continue to post updates as we get more information.
It’s been a long journey, but like many runners as they get towards the end of a race, we are feeling a surge of adrenaline that is fuelling our final kick to the finish line. Thank you all for your support and patience. Without your help we could not have got here! Speaking of which, if you’d like to join our pre-opening sessions and are not yet a member, please sign up here (and tell your friends). And if you’d like to support us in other ways, please check out these opportunities.
In the meantime, we continue to do our best not to boast and just keep it deep, keep it deep, keep it deep.
James.
