Trying Something New with Open Squash!
By Christine Bibbo Herr – NYC Influencer

Hey everyone! It's Christine from NYC Pretty, and I'm so excited to share my recent experience diving into the world of squash with Open Squash. I'm all about fitness, trying new things, and finding fun ways to stay active, and squash fits the bill.
I've been an Instagrammer for quite a while now, since about 2012 when I started NYC Pretty as magazines started going more online. Before that, I was a fashion and beauty editor for various national magazines. I've always been active, with a love for snowboarding, running, and biking, and I’m always open to trying new sports. When I started posting about pickleball and other racket sports, Open Squash reached out to me. They saw my posts and asked if I'd be interested in trying squash. Of course, I said yes!
I had never played squash before, but I was up for the challenge. I went to the Open Squash FiDi location in early November for a few sessions, including some beginner classes and a great one-on-one session with Coach Ciara Richards. I picked it up quickly, and I was surprised how different the technique is compared to other racket sports. The swing involves more of a flick of the wrist, and it took some practice to get the form right. But I got the hang of it.
Squash is such a great workout! It's more intense than pickleball. I love that you can get your cardio in, work all your body parts, and improve your hand-eye coordination. It really keeps your mind engaged, too. The game involves a lot of lateral movement which is different from my usual running routine, but I like the way it makes my body move differently.
Of course I shared my experience on Instagram, and my audience loved it.
I posted about the game, the cool downtown FiDi location with its amazing rooftop, and all the facilities including the gym. A lot of my followers, including friends with families, were interested in trying it out.
Overall, my experience with Open Squash has been fantastic. I think it's always great to try something new, and I'm so glad I didn't pass up the opportunity. If you are looking for a new, fun way to get fit, I encourage you to check out Open Squash in New York City!
