
Ciara Richards 🏴
Assistant Coach
Book a LessonBorn and raised in Wales, Ciara Richards developed a lifelong passion for squash, starting at age 5 and quickly excelling in the sport. She began competing on the Welsh junior team at just 10 years old and went on to represent Wales at every Junior age group, ultimately becoming a Welsh Junior Champion in each category. Her competitive journey continued with the PSL team ‘Welsh Wizards,’ where she played alongside squash legends such as Tensi Evans, Greg Gaultier, and Open Squash’s own Peter Creed.
Ciara earned a scholarship to Drexel University in Philadelphia, where she played a major role in helping her team make history by defeating Trinity at the 2021 College Squash Nationals. Following her college career, Ciara transitioned to coaching, combining her extensive experience and deep passion for the game. She attended the first women- and girls-only coaching course at US Squash, and previously worked with Squash Wales and the Specter Center in Philadelphia.
As an Assistant Coach and Women’s Community Coordinator at Open Squash, Ciara is dedicated to nurturing the development of players while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for women and girls in the sport.
