We’re excited to announce that tickets are now on sale for our inaugural PSA Bronze tournament, the Open Squash Classic, happening at our FiDi facility in New York City from October 6-10. As part of our commitment to making squash accessible to all, any net proceeds from the tournament will be directed to the Open Squash Junior Scholarship Fund. Since 2020, we’ve proudly contributed more than $1 million in low-income subsidies and scholarships to broaden participation in squash.
We’re looking forward to a dynamic and exciting tournament that will showcase the great sport of squash. Spectators can expect the thrill of world-class competition as 48 of the top-ranked men and women compete for the inaugural Open Squash Classic title. With 8 players from the world’s top 20 and 16 nations represented, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
Women’s Draw
Leading the women’s draw is World #15 and Open Squash Sponsored Pro, Farida Mohamed, who trains with us at FiDi under the guidance of our Director of Squash, Amr Khalifa. Joining her are top contenders like Egypt’s Nada Abbas (World #17), Canada’s Hollie Naughton (World #19), and England’s Lucy Beecroft (World #20). Representing the U.S., Audrey Berling (World #206) will compete as one of the wildcards. Audrey Berling, a former collegiate player at Franklin & Marshall College, continues her squash journey on the Pro Tour, proudly waving the American flag. Another wildcard, Ireland’s Hannah Craig (World #85), is also one of our Sponsored Pros.
Men’s Draw
On the men’s side, England’s Marwan El Shorbagy (World #10) will lead the draw, closely followed by Open Squash Sponsored Pro Victor Crouin (World #11) from France. Fans can also look forward to seeing international stars like “The Colombian Cannonball” Miguel Rodriguez (World #15), Scotland’s Greg Lobban (World #17), and England’s rising talent Jonah Bryant (World #62). Representing the U.S., Shahjahan Khan (World #51) and Andrew Douglas (World #53) will be counting on your support to propel them through the competition. For the men’s wildcards, we’re excited to announce that our very own Director of Squash, Peter Creed, will be stepping onto the court, alongside Hollis Robertson (World #261).
As our Directors of Squash, Peter Creed and Amr Khalifa, said: “The Open Squash Classic is a fantastic opportunity to see some of the best players in the game and get more people excited about squash. It’s particularly important that any proceeds from the tournament will go to our Junior Scholarship Fund, helping to open the future of the game to more young people.”
