Membership Terms

Last updated: 22 October 2026. Open Squash is a non-profit operated by Open Squash, Inc., with locations in FiDi and Bryant Park (and Williamsburg from its opening). Prices, discounts and fees are on our website.

Your membership

1. Plans. Off-Peak, Pay to Play or Unlimited, at your home location. Passport adds our other locations for an extra monthly amount.

2. Ways to pay. A 12-month plan (paid monthly, lower price), month to month (no commitment, higher price), or a year up front (one payment by bank, discounted). You keep a card or bank account on file and authorize us to charge it for your membership each month on your start date, and for any other charges as they happen. Paying by bank costs less. If a payment fails, you can't book or play until it's paid.

3. 12-month plan. It renews for another 12 months unless you tell us before your renewal date; we'll remind you first. To leave early, give 30 days' notice and pay back the discount: the difference between the month-to-month and 12-month price for each month you've had. We waive this if you move more than 25 miles away or an injury or illness stops you playing (with a doctor's note), and may waive it in other cases.

4. Month to month. Cancel any time before your next payment date. The current month isn't refunded.

5. A year up front. Not refundable, except unused whole months if you move away or an injury or illness stops you playing. When the year ends it continues as a 12-month plan, paid monthly, unless you tell us otherwise before then; we'll remind you first.

6. Pausing. Only for an injury or illness, with a doctor's note: 1–3 months at a time, up to 6 months a year. No charge while paused; your commitment moves later by the same time.

7. Changes. Move up a plan any time. Move down at renewal (12-month plan) or from your next payment (month to month). We'll give at least 30 days' notice of any price change; 12-month and year-up-front members pay the new price from their renewal.

8. Family discount. 20% off each additional membership in the same family (same address, same card or bank account).

9. To cancel, pause or change, email support@opensquash.org. We'll confirm in writing.

On court

10. Bookings. Courts open for booking 1 week ahead. Cancelling less than 24 hours before (or not showing up) means a cancellation fee for each player.

11. Guests. One free guest pass every 30 days, then $45 per guest. The same guest can play up to twice a month. You're responsible for your guests and their charges.

12. Everyone on court must be a member in good standing, a checked-in guest, or one of our coaches. Wear eye protection and non-marking shoes, leave on time, and be a good sport.

13. Coaching. Lessons and coaching at Open Squash are given only by Open Squash coaches and booked through us. Outside coaches can't teach on our courts, and you can't bring in or hire someone else to coach you here.

14. Juniors. A parent or guardian is responsible for any player under 18. Players under 16 must be accompanied unless they're in one of our junior programs.

15. Photos and video. Some courts have cameras that may record play. Recordings are private to the people on the booking and kept for a limited time.

16. Founding members keep the privileges of their founding agreement. Williamsburg memberships bought before opening start the day Williamsburg opens; the sign-up payment is non-refundable.

17. We may end a membership for non-payment, breaking these rules, or behaviour that harms or offends others.

Legal

18. Release and waiver. Squash and using our facilities carry a risk of injury. By playing or visiting, you accept that risk and, to the fullest extent New York law allows, release Open Squash, Inc. and its directors, officers, staff and agents from liability for injury, death or loss to you or your property, and agree to cover any loss or damage caused by you or your guests. You confirm you are fit to play. If any part of this is found invalid, the rest still applies.

19. Disputes. Except for small claims, any dispute will be settled by a single arbitrator in New York, New York, under the American Arbitration Association's rules, and not as a class action.

20. Updates. We may update these terms and will email members before a change that affects their membership. Using our facilities means you accept the current terms.
